The Pic de l’Aigle (the Eagle Peak)

Situated in the Jura department, this peak is chosen for its easy access and panorama offered. The peak is at a moderate altitude of 915m, from which, however, you will experience an unobstructed 360 degrees’ view of lakes on one side, and mountains on the other – including the famous Mont Blanc, whenever the sky is clear.

With your mountain leader, you will learn about the history of this place, including the Chateau de l’Aigle (the Eagle Castle) and the Motte Lake, as well as discover the local vegetation.

The Mont d’Or (the Gold Mount)

Situated in the Doubs department, at a 1,463 m altitude and dominating the valley of Jougne, the MĂ©tabief Mont d’Or Station is a large summit plateau surrounded by pastures.

There are multiple hiking trails available to take you to the summit, located both on the side of the Station itself, as well as on the Swiss side. During the high tourist season, you can take advantage of the cable car, which will take you up to 1,419 m altitude. The Mont d’Or is also accessible by car.

With your mountain leader, you will discover the unique geology of the place, as well as learn about Switzerland and the alpine lifestyle.

The CrĂȘt Pela

At 1,495m, highest in the Bourgogne-Franche ComtĂ© region, the Cret Pela is well hidden among the coniferous trees of the Massacre Forest, giving it a unique ambience. Accessible only from 1 July to 30 November for wildlife protection purposes, the Cret Pela very much represents the territory’s icon.

With your mountain leader, you will learn about the origin of the Massacre Forest and the management of high altitude forests, as well as discover the world of the western capercaillie birds.

The Roche Bernard and Roche Champion (Bernard Rock and Champion Rock)

Two viewpoints half a league apart, with unobstructed views of lakes and peat bogs in the Natura 2000 zone 250m below, the rocks are situated at 1,292m and 1,350m altitude; one rock is in the Doubs department, and the other in the Jura. Both offer excellent views of hilly courses along the ridges of the Jura.

With your mountain leader, you will learn about the lakes, the protected peat bogs, the local history of exchanges with Switzerland, the routes used by smugglers, and of course, the extraordinary local vegetation.

The CrĂȘt de la Neige

The Cret de la Neige cannot be ignored. Situated on the ridge line, it dominates the Jura mountains. The Cret de la Neige is the culminating point of the Jura at 1,720m altitude, and is situated in the Ain department. There are multiple hiking trails available that entail approximately 1,000m of climbing. Once at the top, you will find a beautiful alpine vegetation adorned with pine trees, making all your efforts climbing up worthwhile.

With your mountain leader, you will spend a journey of discovery: geology, vegetation, wildlife, space management. After all, you will be in the national natural reserve of the Haute Chaine.

The CrĂȘt de Chalam

This iconic high place is situated in the Ain department at 1,545m altitude, with the Borne au Lion as start point, and a peak offering an unobstructed 360 degrees’ view on the Jura mountains, the Valserine valley, as well as surrounding mountains. While climbing, you will encounter a megaphorbia vegetation, which transforms into a dry meadow at the peak.

With your mountain leader, you will learn about the history of this symbolic high place, as well as experience the different natural environments encountered along the way.

The Grand Colombier

At the Grand Colombier, you will be in the Bugey, a local entity of the Jura mountains. The peak of the Grand Colombier is located at an altitude of 1,534m. It dominates the high valley of the Rhone river and the Bourget lake. The peak provides a full panorama of the Ecluse, the Jura mountains, the SalĂšve and the Geneva lake.

The Tour de France has used one of the passes up the Grand Colombier in the past.

With your mountain leader, you will receive a complete view of the landscapes. During spring time, you will be able to admire various flowers native to the area, including wild tulips!
